An 84’ IHM graduate, Simmiy started off her illustrious career in the Housekeeping department
at the reputed Sheraton Hotels in Chennai. In under 3 years, Simmiy moved to the Hotel
Ambassador Pallava as Deputy Housekeeper.
The entrepreneurial bug bit Simmy in early 1990 when she started a Facility Management
Company UNICORN to cater to commercial, corporate, industrial, institutional, retail and
township/ residential establishments. UNICORN managed end-to-end solutions for the above
which included- housekeeping, pantry/mail room, electro-mechanical, pest control,
horticulture, staffing, help desk, and specialized cleaning services. Simmiy brings to the table
her in-depth knowledge of materials and equipment to be used, as well as her comprehensive
management of multiple service functions.
Simmiy personally conceptualized and coordinated interiors for several MNC transits and has
managed fitout and refurbishing activities for several guest houses, serviced apartments and
hotels. Set up SOPs for operations for clients including Citibank, ANZ Grindlays, Tata
Teleservices, Sumi Motherson, St.Gobain, Parry Sugar, L&T Realty, Ramesh Flowers, and more.
Simmiy speaks 5 languages – Hindi, English, Tamil, French and Punjabi, is an avid reader,
believes in sustainable living practices, and a member of NGO organization Shristhi.
